Vlingo does not understand the contact names from my address book. Why?

Vlingo automatically scans the contacts from your address book. You should not have to do anything. It happens automatically behind the scenes, during both the initial setup process and afterwards whenever you make a change to your address book. Vlingo completes these updates in just a few minutes. If Vlingo is not running when you make a change to your contacts, it will pick up the change the next time you start it.

Frequently, speaking both the person's first and last names together will solve matching issues. For example, speak 'call John Smith' if 'call John' isn't working well. This is particularly helpful when there are multiple spellings such as 'John' vs. 'Jon'.

If Vlingo displays "No match found", it is because there is not a close enough match between the contents of the text box and the spelling of your intended contact. In any of the Vlingo contact fields, you can clear the field and either speak again or type the contact's name. You will notice that the list of matching contacts changes as you enter text into the field.

Alternatively, in the Text Message and Email screens, you can click on No Match or Choose contact. Doing this brings you to the Select Contact screen which displays a contacts list, and you can select the contact you want from the list. Again, notice that the contacts list updates dynamically as you enter text.

If Vlingo misrecognizes a name or any other word, you should type in the correction, and Vlingo will begin to learn it. If you select the misrecognized name or other word, the correct name may show up in a list of alternates.

Note that on Nokia phones, Vlingo only matches against the First and Last name fields as entered in the Address Book.
